Temple VA Hospital to Host Veterans Day Ceremony
Veterans and the public are invited to attend a free ceremony honoring veterans and their sacrifices at Temple's Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center this Friday beginning at 11 AM.
Retired Army Sergeant First Class Acquanetta Pullins will deliver the keynote address following a performance of our national anthem by Denise Garza and a mayoral proclamation by Temple Mayor Danny Dunn.
Following the address, there will be a reading of veterans' names added to the site's granite memorial in 2016, then a 21-gun solute by the American Legion Riders Post #55.
"This ceremony will commemorate the brave men and women who have served in the American military for their dedication and courage to maintain our national security and to preserve the ideal of democracy and freedom for all peoples, both past and present," hospital spokesperson Deborah Mayer said in a media release Tuesday.
Mayer encouraged veterans to wear their medals at the ceremony, and said family and friends will have the opportunity to place wreaths and flowers on the granite memorial after the formal program.
The Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center is located at 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive in Temple.
