Depending on where you live, you will have some sort of accent. It might be extremely bold and stand out compared to others, or it could be more subtle. Even if you don’t think you have one, you still do.

This TikTok is a perfect example of it. The creator is speaking in a pretty standard American accent, but when she listens back to her voice, she hears all the southern twang that she didn’t think she had. Even with the exaggeration, there is absolutely some truth behind this video, and I think it is quite funny.

It is so true that you might think you sound one way, but when you hear your voice in a recording, you almost can't recognize it. I feel like it just contributes to the thing or hating your voice when you hear it. You feel like you sound one way, and it turns out you sound completely different.

I have had a few different friends that would tell you they don't have any sort of accent, but when they are upset or have been drinking, it'll sneak out. Sometimes it's just on certain words, or it could be connected to certain phrases. It really makes you wonder what it is you say differently from those around you.

It is especially awkward when you are traveling to a different area and someone points out the way you said something. Maybe it's just me, but that is so embarrassing. No matter how embarrassing, it's okay to have a different accent or say things in a different way. It's part of what makes you unique.
