Texas Man Causes Terror Scare at New York Opera While Scattering Friend’s Ashes
52-year-old Roger Kaiser of Dallas caused major drama at a New York opera house over the weekend when his attempt to honor a fallen friend sparked a terror alert.
Kaiser was attending a performance of Rossini's "Guillaume Tell" at New York's Lincoln Center Saturday when he approached the orchestra pit and poured a deceased friend's ashes inside.
Kaiser, who initially had no idea he'd caused the shutdown, complained about the interruption on social media. A friend of Kaiser's told the New York Daily News that Kaiser is "deeply embarrassed" and didn't intend to cause trouble.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Kaiser was not arrested or charged. He's reportedly scattered friends' ashes at several other opera houses in the past.
