Texas Teens Face Animal Cruelty Charges for Chicken Video
Last week, we wrote about this pending new legislation could send individuals charged with Animal Cruelty to jail if it passes.
After watching the video above on social media, I kind of hope it does pass. We've got some seriously misguided kids to talk about in Abilene, Texas.
The video above shows a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old douse a chicken with flammable liquid and lighting it on fire. The boys watch it burn to death while they scream and shout and laugh. This video was posted on January 28th by a person who created a Twitter account just to notify the Abilene police about the video. Officers in Abilene say they got notified about the video on January 22nd.
The words, "Mr. Chicken's gonna die!" can be heard as they light the chicken on fire. Another voice can be heard asking, "Why did we do that? That was awful!"
Paul Washburn with Rescue the Animals/SPCA told CBSAustin, "it's one of the most disturbing things I've seen since I've lived in Abilene." He tells the familiar tale that people who torture and kill animals are likely to do the same thing to people some day.
Police say they are looking into Cruelty to Animal Livestock charges against three teens in the case.
