Texas Wine Wins Big at California Wine Competition
The 2017 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is over, and the State of Texas was a big winner.
The Dallas Morning News reports that Texas went to California with wine and came back with medals -158 medals to be exact.
The medals included an unprecedented seven "Best of Class" awards, seven double-golds, and 14 single golds. Remember, it was just 5 years ago that the state was over the moon about getting it's first double-gold.
Given enough time, grapes of Texas will outshine the others, especially when the others are having drought issues.
However, there's still a mountain to climb. A Texas wine has yet to win a sweepstakes award, so there's still room to grow.
The list of winners included Messina Hof Winery & Resort, who won a "Best of Class" award for their 2015 Merlot.
Grape Creek Vineyards won Double-Gold for their 2015 Viognier.
