The UMHB Crusaders have been the number one team in the nation since the 2017 season kicked off, and haven't made the slightest budge out of it. Since last year's hoisting of the 2016 Division 3 National Championship trophy, the Crusaders have set a precedent that they belong in the top ranks.

Myself being a former UMHB football player and proud alumni member, the fire can be seen so evidently by that National Championship trophy actually being here. A lot of people may have thought UHMB would be hurting with key losses such as quarterback Blake Jackson, defensive end Teidrick Smith, left tackle Connolly Fuller, left guard Broderick Jenkins, wide reciever Wykeyhe Walker, and the list could continue to go on and on.

Many people I have talked thought we may see a downfall from the great Crusader football we have seen in the past. Fortunately, the fears were unfounded.

The Cru has steamrolled the majority of their opponents this year, and has one of the most cohesive defenses seen in years at UMHB. Anyone who knows UMHB football knows Coach Pete Fredenburg loves nothing more then a tenacious defense.

The Crusaders are facing the East Texas Baptist Tigers at Crusader Stadium Saturday at 1:00 p.m.. The emotions will be high in this one, as it's senior day for the Crusader football players who will be playing their last regular season game there. Also, the Crusaders will be looking to win their 25th consecutive regular season game, most likely lock up home field advantage through out the NCAA Division 3 playoffs, and capture another American Southwest Conference Championship.

If you can't get out to Crusader Stadium to watch the game, you can tune into the radio broadcast on KRock 101.7 on your radio dial in the Centex to listen to the game. The pregame show begins at 12:30 p.m., and the kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.. Not around the radio, you can stream it as well from krock1017fm.com. Also, you could stream it from our new KRock 101.7 mobile app, which you can download in your Google Play Store or in your Apple App Store. Go Crusaders!
