This is Crazy Woman Found Floating on Air Mattress on Lake Texoma

A woman was rescued by two BNSF train employees after floating on a freezing Lake Texoma for 2 days last week.

How it Started

According to CNN, it all started when a woman named Connie and her fiancé decided to use separate floatation devices to float across Lake Texoma and gather stuff that had fallen from a boat that was on the other side. Connie was on the air mattress while the fiancé was using a different floatation device.

Connie's air mattress was swept away while the fiancé was able to eventually make it back to shore. He was able to walk to a nearby house and phone the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and reported that his fiancé had been swept away the day before.

The Rescue

Connie ended up about two miles away and stuck on some rocks when the BNSF train came by and saw her waving her arms and screaming for help. Two crew members, Train Conductor Cristhian Sosa and Train Engineer Justin Luster, were able to get to her and call the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Sosa told KXII, “She was literally laying on the ground waving one arm, basically her left arm, the one that her arm wasn’t stuck with her jacket and she was asking for help so we instantly knew she was hurt and she needed help”

All's Well That Ends Well

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says EMS crews were able to get to Connie and take her to a hospital and treat her for hypothermia.

The investigation is ongoing.

Have a Float Plan

Going out on the freezing lake on an air mattress is never a good idea. That said, if you're ever going out on the water - whether it's in a boat or on an inflatable unicorn - always let someone on shore know where you plan to go and when you plan to be back, or at least check in.

That way someone can let authorities and rescuers know where you were supposed to be if something happens.
