Sadly, there's no shortage of evil in this world, even here in Central Texas.

Three people accused in separate cases of crimes against local children are facing justice for acts alleged or admitted, and while it can't heal the victims, one hopes it will at least prevent others from being harmed.

Deborah McKeon with the Temple Daily Telegram reports that 28-year-old Codey Moore of Temple turned himself in to police on April 18 after an 11-year-old Troy girl told a forensic investigator the man had been sexually assaulting her for some time. The girl said the last occurrence was in March, and investigators say Moore admitted to having sexual contact with the girl as he was being read his rights.

Bell County Jail's online records indicate Moore was booked at 4:37 PM Thursday, April 18 and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child - a first degree felony. He remained behind bars Tuesday, April 23 in lieu of bonds totaling $250,000.

You may remember that in February of 2018, Killeen police and federal investigators arrested Christopher Almaguer and his wife, Sarah Rashelle Almaguer, after images of children engaged in sexual activity were uploaded to Facebook and traced back to their home. In October of last year, the couple pleaded guilty to a count of sexual exploitation of children and a count of production of child pornography. Their victims ranged in age from infancy to 14.

KCEN-TV reports that the couple are scheduled to be sentenced at 10 AM Wednesday at the U.S. District Courthouse in Waco. Each faces 15 to 30 years in federal prison.
