The preliminary investigation has led police to believe that a fight erupted at the high school at approximately 9:15 AM, and that Simpkins pulled a weapon during the dispute. 3 students were believed to have been injured, and 1 teacher. At least 1 student refused treatment due to minor injury.

A parent reunification point was set up at the Center for Performing Arts located at 1110 W. Debbie. Officers were on location for security and students were transported via bus. Counseling services were arranged for students and parents at the reunification location.

A press release from Mansfield ISD states:

"The school was on lockdown as the situation unfolded...All schools that feed into Timberview High School will remain on lockout out of an abundance of caution until the MISD police department clears those campuses. A lockout means classes will resume, but no one will be allowed in or out of the building. "

Authorities believe that Simpkins may be driving a 2018 silver Dodge Charger with license plate PFY-6260, and are asking the public to call 911 if you know the suspect's whereabouts. Do not attempt to engage with the suspect, he is considered armed and dangerous.
