Fort Hood families have had just as rough a year as the rest of us, if not rougher, so it's only right they get a little extra Christmas cheer this season.

Thanks to the Spirit of Christmas Foundation, they will.

Our partners at News 10 report that foundation teamed up with FedEx and Fort Hood MWR to deliver 500 trees to the post for military families to pick up on Friday, December 11. That's a record for Fort Hood's event, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 safety reasons, they couldn't get trees sent overseas. Still, the project has seen hundreds of trees shipped to over 70 military installations across the U.S. That's worth celebrating!

If your E1-E4 Fort Hood family would like a tree, you'll need to pick up a voucher by 7 PM Friday night (December 4). You can do that at BOSS HQ, Old Ironsides Avenue BLDG 9212. Call (254) 290-2433 if you have any questions.

Pickup will be a drive-thru event at Hood Stadium on December 11. Your voucher will have a time slot for pick-up, and your tree will be loaded onto your vehicle. However, you will need to secure it before you head home.

The organizers ask that you please wear a mask and practice physical distancing if you pick up a tree. It's 1 tree per household, and you'll need a valid military ID along with your voucher to claim it.

Also, there will be a tree lighting ceremony Thursday, December 3 at III Corps Headquarters. The ceremony starts at 5:15 PM and will feature live music, food, hot cocoa, cookies, and more.

From all of us at Townsquare Media to all our active duty and retired military, thank you so much for your service and happy holidays!
