Belton, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor opened its new on-campus stadium with a dominating 35-7 win over fifth-ranked Wesley College in front of a record crowd on Saturday night. The fourth-ranked Crusaders (3-0) christened their new Crusader Stadium with a win over their Division III South Region football foe Wolverines (2-1) with a dominating performance from the Cru defense.

The game played in front of a record crowd of 9,384 saw a Cru defense hold Wesley to -31 rushing yards and 105 yards of total offense in the game, 64 of which came on one play late in the fourth quarter. Freshman defensive end Teidrick Smith led the Cru defense with 1½ sacks, followed by senior end Korey Steward and senior linebacker Andy McAteer adding two tackles for losses each.

The Cru rolled up 461 yards of total offense to help offset three turnovers in posting its third straight win over Wesley. Sophomore quarterback Zach Anderson threw for 238 yards on 16 of 24 passing with a touchdown and ran for 61 yards with two scores in his first start of the season. Senior running back Elijah Hudson ran for 66 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns adding three receptions for 82 yards and another score.

The Cru will have their American Southwest Conference opener next weekend against Sul Ross State (0-3) in a 6:00 PM kickoff at Crusader Stadium to be aired on Townsquare Media's K101-7 (KLTD-FM) and k1017fm.com with broadcast set to begin at 5:30 PM.
