Why Is Belton, Texas Always the Worst Stretch of My US190 Morning Commute?
Ok, this morning traffic along 190 in Belton, Texas is getting out of hand and it's time to say something about it.
What's The Problem?
A normal drive that takes 25 minutes coming from Killeen to Temple has taken me 45, sometimes 50, minutes on certain days.
While it's not an everyday thing, it's a thing.
It's a dice roll on what time you'll arrive to your destination these days on I-14 (or Highway 190) if you don't plan ahead and keep all the ongoing construction projects in mind.
The Good News Is That Construction Is Almost Done
According to the Killeen Daily Herald, construction will continue as crews are on Phase 3, the last phase of a $38 million dollar project to add a new lane of traffic from Harker Heights to Belton, and there's work happening near Simmons Road.
Daily Accidents Could Be The Reason You Are Late As Well
This morning (Thursday 3/3), there were two accidents that left commuters saying WTF: Why is the Freeway Terrible? (What did you think that meant?)
Is it me, or have there been quite a few accidents lately that have been occurring on that stretch between Simmons Road and I-35?
Can't blame that on the construction! How many people do you see speeding, cutting people off, or just not paying attention while they're driving on 190?
Anyway, we won't have long before it's all over and the ride on I-14 will be smoother on your way to work.
But until then, plan ahead and expect an accident or two in the morning. It's inevitable!
