If you're looking to do some good for your community this weekend, the Central Texas Food Bank could really use your help.

They're currently looking for volunteers to help distribute food at Temple College, 2600 S. First Street, this Saturday, May 1 from 9AM to 11AM. Helping hands will also be needed for another food distribution event at Waco ISD Stadium on Thursday, May 27th from 10AM to Noon.

Both events are drive through affairs and are free to those in need.

According to a news release from the Central Texas Food Bank, “Attendees will receive an assortment of food items which will vary, depending on available supplies. While these food distributions are primarily designed as drive-through events, no one in need of food will be turned away."

If your family could use a little help with food right now and plan to take part in the drive-through event, you are asked to please make room in your trunk or hatch ahead of time.

If you don't currently have a vehicle and plan to attend on foot or via public transportation, you can still get a food care package. You're just asked to bring a container for the food, as it may be difficult to carry the boxes.

If you're interested in volunteering, visit the food bank's website at centraltexasfoodbank.org and click on “Volunteer."

If you're experiencing food insecurity and can't make it to Temple College or Waco ISD Stadium for these food distribution events, or if you need more assistance with food provisions, click the “Find Food Now” tab to find more food banks or distribution events near you.

Central Texas Food Bank has seen the need for food rise during the pandemic and the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri. If you'd like to help, donations are accepted and appreciated at centraltexasfoodbank.org.
