An increase in service fees has been proposed in Copperas Cove as a means of offsetting the growing cost of providing the services.

Water, sewer, and solid waste collection charges are expected to rise varying amounts. Garbage collection may increase by $0.25 per container per month for residents and $4.50 for businesses. Water rates are proposed to increase $0.08 per 1,000 gallons used. Sewer rates may increase $0.03 cents per 1,000 gallons.

Projected revenue from these increased fees is $238,748 according to city documents.

Increased fees would put the cost of the service on the one using the service, instead of requiring the use of property tax to cover to costs.
