Mesquite Pizza Delivery Driver Fatally Shoots Teen Robbery Suspect

A Domino’s Pizza delivery driverĀ in Mesquite reportedly shot and killed a teenager who, along with another teen, tried to rob him late Saturday night.

The 39-year-old driver called 911 shortly before 11:30 PM to tell police he’d shot one of two teens who ambushed him at a vacant house, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Sunday.

When the man arrived at the house in the 1400 block of Springwood Drive in Mesquite, two 16-year-old suspects approached him, and one fired a gun. The delivery man shot back, and both teens fled.

Police found the wounded suspect near the scene. He died soon after. The other suspect was later found and arrested. The surviving suspect faces a charge of aggravated robbery.

Unfortunately, the driver may face a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon, as he did not have a license to carry a concealed handgun, the Star-Telegram reported.

Back in April, a Texas House committee approved a bill that would allow both the open and concealed carry of handguns in Texas without a license. That same week, the Texas Senate endorsed a bill that would allow first responders to carry weapons as well. Neither bill has made significant progress since.
