Valentine's Day Double Murder in Waco
This double homicide has still never been solved 33 years later. Co-Owner James Monta Tolen, 52, and secretary Karey Irene Bowdoin, 33, were found dead inside City Software in Waco on Valentine's Day 1989. Between the bodies, investigators found two .22-caliber long rifle shell casings and both died from a single close-range gunshot wound to the head. The case is still open.
Valentine's Day Double Murder/Suicide in Lufkin
Angelina County Sheriff's investigators say that from the evidence at the scene "Ricky Mullin" killed his estranged wife, Margaret Renee Mullin, and her mother, Brenda Alderman then turned the gun on himself on Valentine's Day 2009. All three bodies were found at the scene and while there were no witnesses, neighbors said that they did hear gunshots and called the police.
Valentine's Day Murder in Sugar Land
Fort Bend Sheriff's Deputies found Marilu Geri bleeding and unresponsive at the home she shared with her husband, Stephen Geri on February 14, 1986. Marilu was taken to an area hospital with three gunshot wounds in her back and one on her side, she was later pronounced dead. Detectives reopened the case in 2018 with DNA resources that were not available in 1986.
Valentine's Day Murder of Texas Teen in 1974
Carla Walker, then 17, and her boyfriend Rodney McCoy were parked outside a bowling alley in Fort Worth after a Valentine's Day Dance on February 17, 1974, and were yanked from her boyfriend's car by an unidentified man who pistol-whipped McCoy and knocked him out. That man, identified as Glen McCurley, stopped that murder trial to plead guilty to choking Walker after decades of claiming he was innocent. He was sentenced to life in prison and the trial was concluded.
Valentine's Day Shooting in Houston Finds Woman Was Also Wanted For a Murder from 2013
Shakiya Cruz was arrested for killing Lorenzo Guevara, whose body was found on the South U.S. Hwy 59 service road on Valentine's Day 2020. After her arrest, it was discovered she also had a capital murder warrant for the November 2013 beating, robbing, and strangling murder of David Oshodi-Alagoa.
