All KISD Students Will Receive School Supplies For Upcoming School Year
KISD's Facebook page announced something Tuesday night that I feel will be a huge relief for parents dealing with the current high cost of school supplies.
Outside of backpacks, lunch boxes, nap mats, and Secondary PE uniforms, Killeen's Independent School District will provide school supplies for their students for the upcoming 2020-2021 School Year.
I'm sure this is great news for families who spend lots of money each year on their kids' supplies.
According to the post, they are planning for approximately 45,500 students and are sticking to their mission: "Teach so that students learn to the maximum potential".
KISD Superintendent John Craft added:
“Families across Central Texas are facing unprecedented times due to COVID-19 and we want to continue to support our students and their families and not cause additional financial burden with the added expenses of school supplies."
KISD also has a potential contingency plan if COVID 19 continues.
They are considering a hybrid calendar with an extended school year, adding online and in-person learning as an option.
The new school year begins August 17, with online pre-registration ongoing for current students, Pre-K, and Kindergarten.
New student registration starts on June 1st.
