Burglaries End Badly for Texas Man With Beating at Buc-ee’s
This could make a great country song. Or a really good tongue-twister.
A wild weekend of bungled burglaries came to a bruised ending for a Texas thief who tried to take the wrong man's truck at Buc-ee's in New Braunfels.
According to mysanantonio.com, when police arrived at the convenience store this past Sunday, they found 21-year-old Austin Graham Neely being restrained by the owner of the truck that Neely allegedly attempted to steal.
He had also been thoroughly beaten!
What Did Austin Graham Neely Do?
A lot of things happened before the beat-down.
According to mysanantonio.com, on Saturday night Neely went into an unlocked home in New Braunfels and took the keys to a Nissan Maxima. He bottomed out that vehicle and disabled it, but managed to get into the Buc-ee's parking lot.
Then he jumped inside a running Mazda with the owner standing by the car. When Neely tried to move the car, he couldn't disengage the emergency brake. After that, he entered the Buc-ee's and allegedly tried to steal two energy drinks and a soda.
How Did The Buc-ee's Fight End?
Neely stole another man's keys, and ran out of the building to a gas pump where his Chevy pickup was parked. The owner was able to get into the passenger side of the truck - at the same time Neely got in on the driver's side. The beating began, and the truck went into reverse, hitting a parked Dodge Durango.
But wait, there's more!
After the collision, Neely was held on the ground until officers arrived. After being taken to the New Braunfels police department, he assaulted an officer.
The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung reports that Neely was booked into the Comal County Jail and charged with burglary of a habitation, three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, robbery, and assault of a peace officer. Neely remains in the county lockup Monday under $45,000 bond.
No word on when the movie about this experience will hit theaters, but I'm looking forward to it!
