A few months ago, Domino's Pizza began asking customers to tell them where potholes are along delivery routes so the company can repair them and improve service.

In response, a Libertarian friend of mine joked that if Domino's could start managing America's roadways and Chick-Fil-A could start directing traffic, there'd be two less government intrusions into our lives.

I laughed at the time, but now I think he was on to something.

KENS-TV shares a report from Louisville, Kentucky about a Chick-Fil-A drive-thru crew who managed to successfully serve 178 customers between Noon and 1 PM Friday, September 21. That averages out to about 3 cars per minute - a company record. And though I don't have the numbers in front of me, I'm willing to bet it's close to setting a world record, if not the world record.

If you've ever been to CFA during the lunch rush, you've seen employees directing traffic and averting complete chaos. These folks signed up to serve chicken, but have found themselves donning reflective vests and strategically placing road cones to keep a hungry public safe and satisfied.

That's darned impressive, especially when you consider locations with only a single drive-thru lane and a small parking lot like the CFA on North 31st in Temple.

So, maybe it's time to start putting these fast food places on public projects. We could get I-35 patched up in a week and end traffic jams as we know them.
