As TxDOT begins work on a seven-mile stretch of I-14 Monday, they've also announced the temporary closure of an eastbound exit.

Ken Roberts with TxDOT announced Monday that exit 280B from eastbound I-14 to Clear Creek Road will close Wednesday evening, September 11.

Eastbound drivers who need to get to Clear Creek Road will need to exit at 280 for the next four weeks.

The closure will allow for crews to start work on a permanent concrete barrier wall for the exit ramp. It's part of a project started in August of 2018 to reconfigure the I-14 frontage roads near Clear Creek. Part of the project involves building a westbound-to-eastbound turnaround bridge, which also includes building bridges to span the main lanes of I-14 and the eastbound exit ramp to Clear Creek Road.

Work on the entire project is expected to be complete by November of this year if the weather continues to cooperate.

So remember: exit at 280 for Clear Creak Road, and keep an eye out for reduced speed limit signs, work crews, and equipment.
