The accident that had many Central Texans waiting in bumper-to-bumper traffic on U.S. 190 in Harker Heights this morning has resulted in the death of a tow-truck driver.

As reported by the Killeen Daily Herald, Harker Heights Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Miller said the tow-truck driver was loading a vehicle on his truck around 6:20 AM when he was struck by a passing mini-van. The crash caused the tow-truck driver to lose his right leg below the knee upon impact. He was taken to Seton Medical Center and passed away a little after 7 AM.

Please remember to move over when you see tow-trucks and emergency response vehicles assisting others on our area roadways. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the tow-truck driver's family. According to the Killeen Daily Herald, his name has not yet been released.
