Footage across the net shows massive flooding in parts of Houston after a water main broke Thursday.

KHOU-TV reports that areas of east Houston were so severely flooded that firefighters were rescuing stranded drivers. Several major roadways were closed and water pressure was low across the entire city.

In a live video feed on their site, a KHOU reporter said Houston's public works department had not yet determined the cause of the break. Another reported said a contractor had been doing exploratory work around the main shortly before it burst, but there's been on official word. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner was expected to give a press briefing around 2 PM.

Footage and images shared by KTRK-TV showed stranded motorists being rescued from their vehicles. A reporter with KTRK said public works employees were working to reach the main and begin repairs. Water service cutoffs were expected across the city.

We'll update this post with more information as it becomes available. Meanwhile, you can also stream live coverage in the videos above and below.
