KWTX's Ke'Sha Lopez reported that the Central Texas area has added a new city council member to one of its towns.

The city of Hewitt has elected a new city council member to the council.

A runoff election took place on Saturday night, and the voters came to a conclusion on the next member of their city council.

The newest member of the Hewitt city council is Erica Bruce.

Bruce is a doctor in the area, and received 65.76 percent of the votes in the runoff election.

Bruce beat out Betty Orton who received 34.24 percent of the votes in the election. The total number of votes cast in the election were 733.
