Kid Entrepreneur’s Marketing Strategy Prompts Police Response
Advertising works, but sometimes the real innovators - those who dare - are misunderstood in their time. Like Socrates and van Gogh before him, a kid in Brigham City, Utah on the cutting edge of genius was only guilty of being too far ahead of his time.
Brigham Police paid him a visit after receiving several reports of a kid selling beer. Those folks might want to get their eyes checked, because while the kid's poster did say "Ice Cold Beer", the word "Root" was written just above "Beer". Maybe you have to squint to see it, but it's there.
Fortunately, police had a good sense of humor about it and didn't shut down the kid's refreshments stand. In fact, they sort-of praised him, claiming that business had been good.
They posted a picture of the kid I've dubbed Don Draper Jr to Facebook, and the comments have mostly been supportive. Why wouldn't they be? He's just trying to earn a living like anyone else!
What do you think about this kid's advertising strategy? Let us know in the comments.
