A very good boy is safe and sound thanks to Killeen firefighters who rescued him from a house fire this past weekend.

The City of Killeen reported Tuesday that the firefighters were called to a blaze at a house and were able to save everyone inside, including the four-legged member of the family.

The dog was in need of resuscitation, but once he was awake and stable, he reportedly jumped up and ran to his humans.

It's awful that the family's home was damaged by a fire, but the most important thing in these situations is that your family is safe and sound. That includes the family dog!

This story really got to me because, to be honest, I had a rough day. I hadn't slept well, and there were a million things to do at work to catch up after the long holiday weekend.

When things are stressing me out and I'm about to lose it, I like to take out my phone and look at pictures of my dog, Leela. Knowing she's at home waiting for me and that we'll play fetch and have adventures in the backyard helps me get through those rough days in the office.

I can't imagine what I'd do if something were to happen to her. It's great to know that local firefighters would do everything they could to help get her out safely if heaven forbid there was ever a fire at my place.

All I can say is that if you have a dog, give them a hug and a pat on the head tonight. They're your little buddy and you mean the world to them.
