If you stepped outside your door this morning work, the weather in Killeen, Texas was drastically different when you stepped out to head home. A cold front came in quick, and brought strong, chilly winds with it.

When it gets really cold like this, my first concern of course is making sure that there’s enough food in the house for my family, but my next concern is definitely people who don’t have warm, safe shelter like me and my family.

Fortunately, the City of Killeen is helping out with that once again.

Killeen to Open Warming Shelter Tonight

I’m so happy to announce that Killeen Moss Rose Community Center will be open for those who are seeking shelter when the temperatures drop tonight. If you’re not exactly sure where this shelter is located, it will be at 1103 East Ave.

The doors will open at 6 PM, and they will remain open until 9 AM Friday morning. However, if no one has shown up by 11:30 PM, they'll have to shut the center down. If you or someone you know is in need of shelter, please be there before that deadline.

They will serve a meal, but won't be able to offer full shelter services. However, you'll be out of the cold, and that's definitely a good thing.

In fact, this right here is an absolute lifesaver for a lot of people in the community, and I personally want to thank those who are giving of their time to make this happen.

Get Ready for Colder Weather in Killeen Friday

Our partners at KWTX-TV report that the temperatures are supposed to drop somewhere in the upper 20s by sunup Friday, and wind chills could have things feeling even colder.

If you're seeing this message and know of someone who could use shelter tonight, please help us get this information to them by sharing this piece. You could be saving a life.
