Local Restaurant In Flames

KWTX reported that firefighters in Temple battled a fire at a Church's Chicken restaurant on Friday evening.

Fire crews in the area responded to the Church's located at 1710 S. 31st Street in Temple around 9:45 p.m..

A restaurant employee that was present attempted to put the flames of the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but wasn't successful with the attempt.

An investigation stemmed by fire officials, showed that the fire began near the fryer area of the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant received heat and smoke damage from the flames.

The total amount of damage estimated to repair the restaurant is expected to be more than $40,000. One person had to be treated by EMT's on the scene, but refused to be transported to the hospital for further treatment.
