Man Approaches Texas News Crew to Confess to Fatal Shooting
An 18-year-old man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting in Forth Worth approached a TV news crew Sunday to confess and turn himself in.
KTVT-TV reports that Sebastian Ramirez-Barcenas, along with two friend, showed up at their studio around 5:30 PM Sunday and agreed to be on camera as he confessed to be responsible for the death 15-year-old Makayla Davis.
Ramirez-Barcenas said he was helping Makayla's brother clean a shotgun Saturday, and that he was told was unloaded. He said the gun "just went off" when he "racked it back".
"I didn't mean to shoot her," he said. "I didn't pull the trigger or anything. She wasn't in the room, you know? She just walked in and it happened."
Ramirez-Barcenas reportedly panicked and ran into a forest near the scene of the shooting, where police spent hours looking for him. After speaking with KTVT, he turned himself in to police and was charged with criminally negligent homicide.
