Missing Texas Police Chief Body Found in Houston Ship Channel
KWTX reported from the Associated Press that a Texas Police Department Chief who fell overboard off a boat into Galveston Bay has been found.
The U.S. Coast Guard found the missing police chief after a 40 hour search. The missing police chief was Kemah's Police Chief, Chris Reed.
Reed was pulled from the Houston Ship Channel on Sunday morning. The 50-year-old police chief had been missing since 4:00 p.m. on Friday, when he was thrown overboard without a life jacket on.
Reed was thrown overboard by a large passing ship that made a huge wave that caused him to be thrown in the water.
The Coast Guard reported over a dozen different agencies from the local level to the federal level, searched over 650 square miles before the body was found. A Galveston County boat crew discovered Reed's body around one and a half miles north of the Dike in Texas City before 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
