Obama Heads To VA With Warnings About Sequester
President Barack Obama will speak in Newport News, Virginia today as he continues his efforts to convince Congress to take action to avoid massive spending cuts. Mr. Obama will address employees of Newport News Shipbuilding, a company responsible for the construction and maintenance of some of the most advanced sea vessels, including United States naval craft and warships. The President will make the case that the shipbuilding industry will be hit hard by cuts to the naval budget, and that other industries and services will suffer as well.
Mr. Obama still faces opposition from Republican leaders who feel he is using scare tactics and exaggeration to pressure Congress into acting in line with his administration's wishes. Both parties are facing potential backlash from angry voters fed up with Congress' inability to come together on a deal.
ABC News has posted a sequester timeline on their website.
