Remembering Chaplain Steve Abbe of Lorena
A vital member of the Central Texas community recently passed away.
According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, Lorena police chaplain Steve Abbe has died.
Chaplain Abbe was with the Lorena police department since 2014. While his specific cause of death has not been released, a post from the Facebook page of Crossroads Fellowship Church did say that he was undergoing a “treatment plan for cancer.” Chaplain Abbe was the Lead Pastor and founder at the Crossroads Fellowships Church.
Chaplain Abbe is remembered fondly by friends and co-workers as someone who was always willing to help and offered kindness daily.
The Lorena Police Department issued a touching statement in tribute to Chaplain Abbe.
"Steve was our rock and was always available day or night. He has always just been a phone call away," the statement opens.
Chaplain Abbe was described as a gift to the department who went out of his way to speak to all of his collogues and offer comfort and care. He served not only McLennan County, but also neighboring counties when someone was in need.
The statement about Chaplain Abbe noted his actions on the day of the infamous Twin Peaks shooting in Waco, after which the chaplain accompanied an officer to a local hospital and remained there to give of himself in service to anyone who needed him.
One cannot measure the impact a person has on others’ lives. However it is safe to say Steve Abbe touched a lot of people during his time on earth.
