Southbound Interstate 35 at a Standstill in Temple Wednesday Afternoon

Drivers were being advised to avoid southbound I-35 through Temple Wednesday afternoon after an unknown incident backed up traffic for miles.

TxDOT issued an alert shortly after 5:30 PM warning drivers that the area around Mile Marker 300 and Avenue H was backed up for about 4 miles.

Jodi Wheatley with TxDOT's Waco regional office recommended drivers headed to Temple from the north take exit 304 and use Loop 363 to go around Temple.
