Suspect in Custody in Missing Austin Mom and Baby Case
A mother in Austin who went missing with her newborn daughter last week has been found dead in Houston.
According to ABC 13, a close friend of Heidi Broussard, Magen Rose Fieramusca is in custody for two kidnapping offenses and one tampering with evidence, a human corpse.
Magen is suspected of befriending Heidi Broussard and faking a pregnancy so that she could ultimately take Heidi's baby girl undetected.
Heidi was reported missing last Thursday by the father of her children, Shane Carey. Carey initially believed his girlfriend to be visiting a friend who lived in the same apartment complex. When Carey's son's school called to inform him that their son had not been picked up, he began to worry.
Broussard's and the baby's belongings were still in the apartment, and friends and family knew that she would never abandon her boyfriend and son.
A press conference will be held in Austin later today at 2 pm. At this time, authorities do not believe that Broussard's boyfriend, Carey, was involved in her kidnapping. A body was found in the trunk of Fieramusca's vehicle in Houston. An autospy on the body will most likely be performed later today.
A 1-month old was found alive at the residence of the vehicle in Houston, and officials believe the baby to be Margot Carey. The baby is undergoing DNA testing to confirm the girl's identity. The baby did not have any obvious injuries, but was taken to the hospital to be checked.
Hold your loved ones close, because you never know if it could be the last time you see them.
