What In The Shell Happened? Egg Truck In Texas Crashes, Contents Cracked
This is just one of those stories you have to sit back and read to believe. But yes, on Monday morning, according to WFAA, a truck carrying over 30,000 eggs crashed.
The crash happened shortly before the I-45 interchange. Thankfully no one was injured in the accident, but about seven hundred eggs weren't so lucky. Cartons of eggs were left broken on the roadway, turning the highway into a scrambled mess.
This caused the road to be closed while crews cleaned up the delicious chaos left by the crashed tractor trailer. According to WFAA, the eggs were on their way to a distribution center for Eggland's Best.
The spokesperson also said that the cost of the eggs lost totaled up to about $90,000. I had no idea that amount of eggs could be held in a truck, let alone how much eggs are in value.
I have to wonder also how this looked to the first person that saw this happen in real time. Did the eggs start frying right on the Texas blacktop? I seriously think with the heat that we're going through this week it's possible.
Also, how does a company recoup from the egg loss? From what I know, it takes a while for eggs to be laid by hens. Of course I could be completely wrong in my info.
Hopefully the next egg shipment comes with a load of soft blankets to cradle the eggs or something of that kind. Anything the help to save the eggs!
