Three San Antonio Law Enforcement Officers Arrested for DUI
It was one crazy night Friday in San Antonio as three law enforcement officers were arrested for DUI in three separate incidents.
CNN reports that San Antonio Police Officers Gena Rodriguez and Harold Thomaston were arrested just a few hours apart from each other. Officer Rodriguez, and 11 year veteran, had her 3 children in the car with her. The arresting officer said that Rodriguez was slurring her speech, was unsteady on her feet, and smelled of alcohol.
Officer Thomaston was pulled over after he was said to have swerved into the lane of a SAPD officer, then ran a red light.
A Bexar County deputy was pulled over for a DWI as well. 24-year-old Sabrina Moreno has only been with the sheriff's department for 8 months. She was pulled over near I-10 and USAA Boulevard.
The San Antonio officers are on administrative leave pending both internal and criminal investigations.
It's a tough thing to encourage people to call a cab or a friend for a ride when they've been drinking when the people hired to protect us can't seem to do it. Common sense will tell you that the young officer with the kids in her car will most likely never wear the badge again.
Here's a thought: place a large tax on booze, and use the money to fund a "Too Drunk to Uber" service.
