KWTX's Chelsea Edwards reported that Waco authorities arrested a man for assaulting and strangling a woman very early on Sunday morning.

Waco police officers were sent out to an apartment complex in South Waco around 2:50 Sunday morning, where a woman reported she was sexually assaulted and strangled by someone she knew.

The female told authorities that the man was intoxicated. When authorities showed up to the scene, they saw the man who was accused of these crimes attempting to leave the scene.

The suspect was Dennis Mackey, and he was arrested for Aggravated Sexual Assault and Assault Strangulation. Mackey is being held in McLennan County Jail, with a bond of $121,000.
