One man is hospitalized and another is in jail after an argument turned violent in Temple Monday night.

Police were dispatched to the Waymon Manor Apartments at 1811 East Avenue K at 10:16 PM after receiving a report of a person shot. While the caller was on the phone, the 911 dispatcher could hear gunshots and called for all available units to respond.

When police arrived, they spotted 28-year-old Freddy Uceta in a field north of the apartment complex. Uceta fled from officers and hid inside of a burned-out apartment unit. He eventually surrendered, and officers found a discarded gun in his hiding place.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Uceta was also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain. He was booked into the Bell County Jail at 4:20 AM Tuesday and faces an unspecified third degree felony charge.

Police have not released the identities of the victim.
