Brace yourself. Winter is coming. (This summer.)

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke will be in Houston May 11th and 12th for Comicpalooza.

That's right - some poor Starbucks barista in Houston is going to have to fit Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons on one of those cardboard coffee sleeves for two whole days.

I burned through all my saved-up vacation days earlier this year to go on the big Star Trek cruise of out Miami, but I think I'll have just enough hours saved by May to pay tribute to Her Grace. (Hey, it looks like two Star Trek alums I met on the cruise will be there too! Gates McFadden and Michael Dorn are on the guest list.)

To be honest, I hadn't planned to go to any more fan conventions this year until the Bell County Comic Con in Belton this August. It's probably the biggest annual event to hit Central Texas in years, and Temple's Johnny Huang and his team do an amazing job organizing it and bringing in awesome guests you don't have drive across creation to meet.

That said, it'd take an army of Unsullied to keep me from meeting Khaleesi!

If you're thinking to yourself, "This is great, but I don't know if I should pay an arm and a leg to go see the Queen of Dragons", I recommend listening for our cash code announcements starting Thursday morning, March 28. You'll have three chances every weekday to win up to $5,000.

Just wanted to give a heads-up to my fellow nerds here in Central Texas. Information on this year's Comicpalooza can be found here, and the final season of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 14 on HBO.
