KWTX reported that Tuesday morning in the Central Texas area got off to a fast start this morning due to a high-speed chase.

A high-speed chase started around 8:40 a.m. after Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to make a routine traffic stop for a minor traffic violation. DPS Sgt. Ryan Howard said, "The pursuit, which reached speeds of 110 miles per hour, ended on the southbound access road just south of Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center."

The driver who was arrested for evading arrest, among other charges was Jeremie Simpson, 28, of Lakeland, Tenn. Simpson was arrested without a fight, and is currently in Hill County Jail.

Howard also said, “Simpson threw a weapon out of the vehicle, which was recovered near mile marker 364, in Hill County.” Besides the evading arrest charge, Simpson faces tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, and also possession of marijuana.

The high-speed chase involved various law enforcemnt agencies in the Central Texas area such as; Hewiit, Hillsboro, Waco and West police departments along with McLennan County constables and deputies.

Authorities attempted to use spikes earlier in the chase to subdue Simpson's vehicle, but the attempt was unsuccessful according to McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara.
