Lubbock Man That Shot at Police During a Chase Turns Himself In
19-year-old Joshua Tyler Garcia, a Lubbock man who was previously wanted for shooting at a police officer during a chase, has turned himself in to police.
The original incident happened at around 5:50 a.m. on Monday, January 18th. Lubbock Police received reports of a vehicle burglary in the 4700 block of 45th Street. When an officer arrived at the scene, he located the suspect vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and initiated a short pursuit.
While the pursuit was going on, police say that Garcia, who was the passenger in the vehicle, fired multiple shots at the officer's patrol vehicle. Julian David Ramirez was said to be the driver of the vehicle. He was arrested earlier this year and posted bond on May 3rd. He was charged with evading police in a motor vehicle on June 1st.
The officer wasn't injured in the shooting, but his vehicle was struck and disabled.
The vehicle was found a short time later abandoned in the 3900 block of 36th Street.
Garcia turned himself in to the Lubbock County Detention Center a bit before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8th. He now faces charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, and his bond has been set at $300,000.
