KWTX's Christoper Shadrock reported that a Department of Public Safety Trooper was attempting to contact a suspected runaway teenager; and what happened was probably quite unexpected.

The suspected runaway teenager was a female, and their was a young male with her that charged the officer with a knife as he approached them. The trooper tased the male teenager with the knife to subdue him at the scene.

The confrontation between the teenagers and the trooper took place around 2:50 p.m. on Friday afternoon in South Waco.

The confrontation occurred at the intersection of James Avenue and South 17th Street. EMTs at the scene checked out the young male there at the scene after being tased.

The young male was Robert Edwards, 18, and he is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for charging the officer with a knife.
