KWTX's Ke'Sha Lopez reported that emergency crews reported to the scene of a manhole fire in Waco on Sunday.

R.M. Bergerson, Deputy Fire Chief of Waco said, "There was an electrical fire in a manhole in the 100 Block of 6th Street at Austin Avenue."

Bergerson also described how rare this type of fire was, and didn't really speculate too much on the cause of the fire.

Oncor was called to the scene to shut off power to the area while the fire was extinguished by the fire crews.

Power has been restored back now; and crews from the City of Waco were called in to block off nearby streets while fire crews were at work. The extent of damage done by the flames, was not immediately known at the time.
