One suspect is in custody and a second is still on the loose after a weekend robbery in Temple.

Temple police responded to the 7-11 convenience store at 2701 North 3rd Street shortly before 1:30 AM Saturday.

An employee said two men entered the store with a bat and demanded money from the register. A clerk said the two men fled on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.

An officer en route to the crime scene spotted two men running in the area, and after a short search, police located 27-year-old Anthony Trejo of Bryan.

The 7-11 employee identified Trejo as one of the robbers, and Trejo was taken into custody. He was booked into the Bell County Jail at 5:32 AM Saturday, where he remains on $75,000 bond. He faces second degree felony charges.

Detectives with the Temple Police General Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate and search for the other suspect in this case.

The second suspect was described as a black male in his early twenties wearing a blue bandana and dark hoodie.
