A Temple man is back behind bars after being indicted last year for the sexual assault of a child, then released from jail to undergo treatment for PTSD.29-year-old Charles Earl Brooks has been charged with sexual assault and is being held in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

According to police, officers spoke to the victim’s mother on April 20, 2015 at a home in Temple. The woman said her daughter had been assaulted by a man she knew, and officers noticed the child had a swollen face and other signs of having been beaten.

The victim told detectives Brooks entered her room on the night of April 19, 2015, beat her, and choked her as he committed the sexual assault.

According to the Killeen Daily Herald, Brooks was indicted by a Bell County grand jury in June of 2015, but released on a personal recognizance bond in September in order to undergo treatment for veterans affected by post-traumatic stress disorder.
