Temple Police Investigate Threat to North Belton Middle School
UPDATE: The Temple Police Department issued a statement at 8:36 AM Tuesday, which we present verbatim below:
The Temple Police Department has been made aware of the nonspecific threat within the Belton Independent School District. Our department began investigating this situation over weekend. As all threats are taken seriously, additional Police presence has been dedicated to the school, as well as extra patrols in the area during the school day, to help ensure the student’s safety.
KCENTV is reporting that posts on social media about threats of violence made toward North Belton Middle School are being investigated by Temple Police. The social media post that mentions the school is not considered a credible threat at this time according to KCENTV and KWTX.
North Belton Middle School Principle Joe Brown says the school is working closely with law enforcement and will have extra officers on hand at the school Tuesday.
KCENTV reports a post on social media on mentions North Belton Middle School and reads "Im fr gonna shoot up nbms". In a letter to parents from the school shared by KCENTV, Brown said, "Please know that the safety of our students is our highest priority." Some parents have elected to keep their children home today.
