Temple Police Officers Suspended Following Internal Investigations
Three Temple police officers have been suspended without pay following internal investigations of separate instances of misconduct.
Corporal McNeil Fairey was suspended for 3 days after investigators determined that he used excessive force during the arrest of Larry Wayne Parker on August 10, 2016.
Lieutenant Edward Best received 25 days suspension and Officer Jayson Jordan received 10 days for violations related to their handling of a criminal investigation. The Department did not release details about the violations or the investigation, but said the officers' conduct was not consistent with department policy.
In a media release, Public Information Officer Shawana Neely said the Temple Police Department strives to investigate allegations of officer misconduct with the goal of maintaining the highest level of service, accountability, and transparency.
