KWTX reported from the Associated Press that a man in Houston is being accused by authorities of doing something you would think unthinkable by a family man.

Houston authorities are accusing the man of setting fire to his own house, while his wife and two young children were in the house.

The family escaped the flames safely, but were quite shaken up. The flames struck the home on early Sunday; and Ed Gonzalez, Sheriff of Harris County, said on Twitter, "A man identified as 31-year-old Jimmy Lauder poured gasoline inside the home and set it on fire."

Authorities in Houston said the woman called 911 after the smoke alarm went off, and the family was able to escape the home freely without help from the first responders on the scene.

Spokeswoman Rachel Moreno of Harris County Fire Marshal's office said, "Lauder was charged with arson and child endangerment and booked into Harris County jail. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney."
