Texas Pastor Asks God to Strike Down UFC Champion

Texas Pastor Donnie Romero has a bone to pick with the UFC Featherweight champion, Conor McGregor. In fact, the pastor has gone so far as to say to his congregation in Fort Worth, "I'm going to pray that God strikes this guy dead."

Romero, a Pastor of Stedfast Baptist Church, first took his frustration public when a TMZ interview surfaced in December of McGregor answering a pretty controversial question: "How would you fare with you vs. Jesus in the Octagon."

To which the Featherweight champion answered after some hesitation:

I'd still whoop his ass.

In Romero's sermon he asked God to strike the fighter down as a sign of his power.

"I'm going to pray that God strikes this guy dead," Romero said. "Do you know why? Guy's name is Conor McGregor. He's the UFC featherweight champ or something like that, he's on this run of just knocking people out. But he got up and he said 'if Jesus Christ was in the ring with me, I'd knock him out'."

Later, when the previous question was addressed in January, the UFC fighter retorted:

Me and Jesus are cool. I'm cool with all the gods. Gods recognize gods.

Is that blasphemy or is this guys' ego just too large to manage?

Romero took it as both.

That guy, I'm going to pray that God strikes him down with a lightning bolt. So everybody in the world that believes the bible, even a little bit, knows that it was God, it was Jesus who struck him down.
