KWTX reported from the Associated Press that authorities in El Paso had to fatally shoot a man on Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a police station in El Paso, and the man that was shot possessed a handgun.

El Paso Police Sargent Enrique Carrillo said, "The man was shot about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after being confronted by officers." Carrillo said that no officers were injured in the incident.

The man who was fatally shot at the scene has not had his identity released to the public at this time.

Carrillo said, "The man was linked to calls police received earlier Wednesday, but declined to provide details." The Texas Rangers are investigating further into the shooting that took place.
