Groesbeck Police and Fire didn't think this practical joke was at all funny. Just after 5 a.m. this morning, someone thought it would be a riot to light the Groesbeck homecoming bonfire ahead of schedule.

If you happen to know who the practical joker was, Groesbeck Police and Groesbeck Fire would love to hear what you know.

The bonfire was set up in the 300 block of East Jacinto Street and was up in flames by about 5:20 a.m. this morning. Crews quickly put out the blaze but had the situation gone unchecked, this could have become a dangerous start to the day.

Giant bonfires are fun when the community can enjoy them. What's not fun is waking up and looking out the window and seeing what looks like a massive brush fire. Nobody likes that. Groesbeck Police can be reached at 254-729-3497.
